The American 20¢ (twenty-cent piece) is a coin struck from 1875 to 1878, but only in proof strikes for collectors in the ’77 & ’78. It was so similar to the quarter it caused confusion.

The 25 cent piece or quarter has a long history. Consistently produced since 1796 it has been circulated since 1831. Going through many design changes, most were a drastic change from Draped Bust to Capped Bust, Seated Liberty & Standing Liberty to the Washingtons we use today.
