Description
This $20 remainder note from the State Bank At New Brunswick, New Jersey 1860’s features several vignettes. The denomination in all corners, the upper right tw0 X’s. The center, a vignette of Liberty holding a torch and a document. Also a heraldic eagle and a small cartouche of a man on its chest(a mystery to me). The left a vignette of the state seal and two women, one with a liberty cap on a pole and one with a cornucopia. And finally, on the right two female figure. One assumes the role of Justice with a scale and a baton shaped almost like a caduceus. The other with flowers and wheat to symbolize plenty.
The reverse is also colorful filled with a vertical design in red.
The bill is certified by PMG and graded Choice About Uncirculated 58. It is well centered with crisp paper. A large bill at 7.5″ X 3.25″. It is a beautiful design on both sides. Signed by the bank president (John Blum?) but undated with no serial number.
