1757 Colonial New Jersey Six Pound Note, NJ-113 – Very Rare

Description

Dated November 20, 1757 and classified as NJ-113 by Friedberg, this pre-revolution, colonial currency is an important part of United States history. It is ungraded, shows signs of severe age, folded and deterioated but still legible and valued by history buffs and note collectors. Very rare in any condition. Mintage 1100.

Obverse has the seal of the colony, and text in red “This bill shall pay current in New Jersey seventeen ounces, ten penny weight of silver”, a serial number (790) and three signatures barely decipherable(Samuel Neville, A. Johnston & Joseph Hollinshead).

Reverse text “It’s Death to Counterfeit This Bill” and “Woodbridge printed by J. Parker”. A leaf in the center and to the right four figures with bows, a crown and the numeral 24. Left the denomination “Six Pounds”.
