Colonial Currency
Colonial currency refers to the various forms of money used in the American colonies before the United States declared independence from Great Britain. The paper money printed by the colonies is highly collectible today and displayed in this category. The other types of currency used during this period varied by colony and included spanish milled dollars, British pounds and copper, locally minted copper or silver and commodities such as wampum, grain and other commodities.
