Introduction to the Design
Designed by British engraver Benjamin Dudley and commissioned by Roger Moore, the 1785 Nova Constellatio coin serves as a fascinating piece of numismatic history. Dudley was tasked with creating coins for national use. This led to the production of two varieties: the large date and small date versions of the 1785 Nova Constellatio.
The Obverse Features
The obverse of the coin showcases an eye of providence. And it radiates light and is surrounded by a circular constellation of thirteen stars. This imagery was carefully selected to convey a sense of hope and unity for the nascent nation.

The Latin Legend
