Description
Small silver coin from Roman Gaul Celtic region what is now modern France. Minted mid 1st century BC. by the Qunari, a Celtic Tribe absorbed into the Roman Empire about the same time.
Obverse beardless head facing left, hair arranged in beaded curls in two rows. Reverse Boar to the left; legend around.
Photo shows the area of Gaul they inhabited with their major city Vesontio. I have yet to discover what the lettering stands for. Approximately 12mm and 1.85 grams it’s value equaled the Roman denarius.
