Description

Colonial New Jersey Three Pound Note Dated May 1, 1758 and classified as Fr.#NJ117, this pre-revolution, colonial currency is an important part of United States history. It is graded by PCGS Very Fine 20 and has a pedigree. It was part of the John J. Ford Collection.

Obverse has the seal of the colony, and text in red “This bill by Law shall pay current in New Jersey eight ounces and fifteen penny weight of silver”, a serial number 1998 and three signatures. Reverse text “To Counterfeit This Bill is Death” and “Woodbridge in New Jersey, printed by James Parker”. Below the leaf in the center are six crowns and the denomination “Three Pounds” above.

Signatures are clear – Samuel Nevill, Hugh Hartshorne and Samuel Smith all in black or brown ink.
